I work with 4th - 6th grade students in the public education system. The students have learning disabilities. My students are eager to learn but learn differently than their general education peers. The students I serve need various accommodations and modifications to achieve their highest level of achievement. My students are also disadvantaged because of low socioeconomic status and many live in stressful environments.
My students have disabilities ranging from autism, processing disorders, speech and language issues, and a variety of other problems which impede their ability to learn. The majority of my students have attention deficit issues.
Using technological devices such as Internet based educational programs, computers, and iPad's make learning easier for students who have disabilities. Students with disabilities blossom when provided with technological devices to learn with.
