Each year I start off in the classroom. Inviting students and families to our room. Allowing them to see how wonderful, welcoming, and inviting the year will be. This year will be different, as I will be welcoming all families to my classroom from a distance, in an online world.
Although I have PreK students, they will still be required to meet with me online and complete various tasks and activities, where their learning will take place from a computer, tablet, Chromebook, or iPad.
I feel it is my job to make sure they are being healthy and safe, even from a distance. This is why I feel it is important to protect their young eyes from harmful blue light and would love to be able to get each student a pair of protective blue light glasses that they could use at home to help aid in protecting their eyes.
According to The American Optometric Association and Optometry Cares – The AOA Foundation, Blue light impact in children may be at higher risk for blue light retinal damage than adults. The juvenile lens absorbs less short-wavelength light than the adult lens, allowing more blue light to reach a child's retina".
