I am a Kindergarten teacher of 25 eager learners in a low-income community in Chicago, IL. More than 80% of my students receive free lunch. My classroom is composed of many different students, students that have attended pre-school in a state mandated program, students who have never step foot into a school, and students who attended a daycare. Despite the diversity of this group, my goal is the same for all, to create a positive learning environment that produces a life-long love for learning. I can accomplish this goal, despite the resources available to me, through the aide of donors who share my vision in closing the achievement gap present in my community.
