I teach fourth grade English and Language Arts. I teach a maximum of 44 students every year, that's two departmentalized classes. My teaching partner teaches math and science to both classes. We do everything together when we are not teaching our core subjects. As such, our students become very close and feel that even though they are split into two classrooms, we really are one great big happy classroom family.
Our school is hovering right above the title1 division line. I believe we only need 20 more families to sign up for free lunch to qualify for title1 funds. Because we are so close to that dividing line, it is sometimes very hard for us to get quality classroom equipment as we do not have the funds to provide for many things, and more than half of our students qualify for the federal free lunch program.
