I teach at a Title 1 urban school. My first graders come to me for their extra scoop of reading instruction. All throughout the day I see groups of students who need more help with knowing their letters, hearing sounds, and using phonics to read with ease.
I love seeing their faces light up when they read the text we're learning for the week or when they find every single sound in a word. It is exceedingly gratifying to see them improve as readers and become more confident that this reading business is actually something they can master!
