I've worked with children for as long as I can remember. I choose to teach in a Title I District because those students face many more challenges than the typical academic ones. I work with all student populations as a 5th and 7th grade case manager and as an inclusion teacher in classrooms ranging from 5th through 8th grade. A large portion of my day is spent differentiating the curriculum to make it accessible to all grade levels while meeting state and federal guidelines. This challenge has become more difficult since Hurricane Harvey as our school was damaged and we are currently housed at the high school with 9-12 grade students and space is extremely limited. As a result, I have to find creative and innovative ways to meet my students needs with few resources and even less space.
Additionally, I work with at-risk students before school starts and the cheerleading program after school.
