I teach 7th grade World History which includes the study of Ancient Rome, the Middle East, Africa, Medieval Europe and the Renaissance, The Americas, Asia, and Early Exploration. We discuss world cultures and analyze how world history affects our lives today.
I find that using creative projects at the end of each cultural unit is powerful for students. We engage in learning by researching cultural themes, listening to music of the world, and engaging in art projects to strengthen cultural appreciation. Students are highly motivated to learn about world cultures in this environment. Through creative learning, the students can increase their awareness of how different cultures add to the diversity of our world in positive ways. I am asking for 45 thin paint brushes, 24 bottles of various colors of tempera paint, and 4 packs of thick watercolor paper so that my students can create their art projects.
