As our world continues to diversify, so do our schools. It is extremely important for students to see themselves in the books they read in school. It is important for students to learn about their history and see the struggles that others have overcome. It is important for students to have ample opportunities to expand their vocabulary and their minds. Representation matters and as students see themselves in their classrooms, the books they read, and in world ——-they are more compelled to learn. These books will be used for independent readings, literature circles, and making connections to today's world.
