I teach fourth grade at an urban, Title I school in Fort Worth, Texas. My students come from low-socioeconomic households and receive free lunch. Many families live in temporary housing and face extreme financial challenges. Most of my students begin the year below grade level, and several are special needs students that have critical educational gaps. Despite their many challenging circumstances, they come to school excited to learn and are making great strides. My hope is that by the end of the year they will be performing on grade level. I do all I can to make school a safe and fun place for them and give them the educational experiences they need and deserve.
