Hello! I am a 7th-8th grade special education teacher in NY. I also am the coordinator of our Mentoring Program, which strives to provide role models for students who are socially, emotionally, and/or academically at risk. This upcoming year will be my 7th year at my school. We have been doing the Mentoring Program for three years with the hope of continuing it for years to come!
Over the past three years, we have increased staff participation from 30-49! We have also increased students being mentored from about 30-86! Because we work with a variety of students coming from many different backgrounds, the Mentoring Program tries to do many different things to get the students involved positively in their community and give them a reason to want to come to school.
