Students' Reader's and Writer's notebooks are critical within our classroom. They are each student's personal space to try out new ideas, work through their thinking, and engage with their literacy work creatively. During virtual schooling, we lost a lot of this creativity as students were working in a primarily digital format.
Markers, colored pencils, pens, and highlighters will help students engage with their reading and writing in a creative and hands-on way, which many have not been able to do since March, 2020.
Stools will be used by my co-teacher and myself to move around the classroom and be able to conference individually and in small groups, as students won't be able to move freely about the room in the same way they have in the past. Ink cartridges will help us print anchor charts and student references so that all students can access learning materials both in school and at home! Finally, a class set of clipboards will give us the flexibility to take our writing work into the school garden outside on days when the weather allows.
