My middle school population is unique in that we have students that live in our middle to low income neighborhood, students who fill out a boundary waiver in order to attend the school and because of a school closing, students who live in an area designated as one of the poorest zip codes in the United States. At the end of last year their charter school was closed and were relocated to several schools. According to 2023 school report card, the children in my school are 65% low income, 42% African American, 33% Caucasian, 8% Hispanic, and 15% two or more races. This year I have 13 students out of 80 that have an IEP and approximately 7 students who are English Language Learners. This year, I have 80, 6th grade students.
