Moving into distance learning has posed many challenges for both teachers and students. One of the challenges that I am personally facing is having a reliable and effective computer to work with during this "new normal" of instruction. Right now, I am using an older computer with very little RAM which I found that my computer was slow and had many lags during my Zoom sessions with my students. Therefore, many of my students did not benefit from valuable instructional time. Being able to get a laptop with higher RAM is essential in assisting my students with their assignments, meeting them on Zoom, creating video content for teaching, communicating with both students and parents, and finding valuable digital resources and tools. Reading and writing skills go hand in hand with developing communication skills. The more my students read and write, the more they broaden their vocabulary and are able to articulate concepts accurately and more effectively to others. Additionally, reading and writing skills will build their content knowledge and aid them in their other subject areas. Some of my students struggle with their learning due to the wide range of learning styles and/or English proficiency levels. In order to effectively meet their individual learning needs, I need to provide whole group lessons and differentiated and individualized instruction in small groups on the online platform. By having a reliable and effective laptop will ensure that my students will benefit from my instruction during my teaching. And I will be able to communicate with students and parents remotely, it is imperative that I have access to reliable technology in order to meet their needs with ease. Please help me with funding my project so I can have a better, faster, and more reliable computer during this "new normal."
