Book ownership is a critical part of developing lifelong readers. The Birthday Book Club will not only recognize students on their special day, but will allow them to choose their own book , and well as receive a certificate and pencil. Students who do not celebrate birthdays will not be left out! They will receive their special books and treat during School Library Month. I currently give away books on a random basis, and the kids' faces are incredulous - "Is this for free?!?" is the response I usually get. Birthday book club ensures that EVERY child will get at least one free book and have pride in book ownership.

About my class
