I came to DS 3 years ago and I have been working on improving the student materials in the music room. My students have worked hard at building their skills, but they can only go so far without a proper drum set. My percussion students bring school spirit and pride every time they play at a pep assembly or an athletic event.
For years the students at DS have had to perform on equipment that has been repaired, recycled, and taped together; It is my dream as their teacher to give them the best opportunities a school could offer them, not just the best that a small rural school can offer them.
All my kids are ivy league in my book because of how hard they work. This drum set will provide opportunities for all of my current and future students, as well as provide a sense of worth and pride in the music program to the community.
