My district has a co-teach model which means that a special education teacher and a general education teacher work side by side to provide an inclusive environment for all students. We have 6 special education teachers that work and split their time with about 18 general education teachers.
This year we are grateful to be getting our own little space to bring our students when they need time away or that extra help. Our school has not had a resource room, so we will be starting from scratch. The posters will decorate our walls while helping students know they can be somebody as long as they try. We use them as references while teaching. The chair bands will help my kiddos with their fidgeting. Our students come to school with what little they have, so the pencils and erasers can be given to them instead of putting extra pressure on not having their materials. The speakers will be used to listen to audiobooks and other instructional materials.
