We go through about a 100 pairs of drumsticks a year! Students work on responsibility skills by keeping track of their own sticks when learning drum set, however we have so many students that want to play and practice ALL OF THE TIME!
Towards the end of the year, students had to learn and perform using broken drum sticks. This can be both harmful to the students learning, and our limited equipment! We have an after school drum club that meets 3 times a week with over 25 students attending every time! Having consistent attendance can be hard for urban districts however this shows how dedicated our students and their families are to drumming! We often focus on drumming and piano, however we have a limited amount of keyboards which keeps all of our kids from performing at the shows!
