Learning music from home is challenging using online platforms without ensuring every student has access to the same musical materials. One way we are able come together is through rhythm stick and egg shaker songs. Students currently use whatever materials they have, often tapping pencils and/or markers together, or clapping their hands. By providing each of my students with these learning materials, students will become more connected, and better able to participate in music class. They will be able to better engage with our rhythm songs fully with proper learning tools can withstand the excitement music can bring. Through rhythm songs students experience making music, exploring the beat, and understanding rhythm. By providing these students with these tools, they will learn better and also feel valued and cared for, as they are given what they need to be most successful with music learning.
