Many elementary school students have spent more time learning via distance learning than in a school setting. Some are having difficulty adjusting to the classroom environment and need a safe space to relax or talk about difficult topics, and others need a friendly, inviting atmosphere while being tested for possible learning disabilities.
The materials requested will be used to create a safe, calming, and inviting environment for students who are experiencing social, emotional, academic, or behavioral difficulties at school. Students will have the opportunity to choose to play a game or engage in an art or STEM activity after completing psychological testing. Other students will be able to use calming activities like the hug ball or aromatherapy when going through a difficult time. While posters will remind the students that they are in a safe space and can try their best. This project will directly support the social and emotional needs of students in response to the effects of COVID-19.
Students have been presenting with more frequent and severe social, emotional, behavioral, and learning concerns than ever before. Please help me prepare a space for these students to grow when going through a difficult time.
