My civic course emphasizes critical thinking, creativity, collaboration, and communication. Each unit has project-based learning which includes these 4 C's. Additionally, each student is tasked with completing two semester long civic engagement projects. Projects include serving the community, volunteering, and solving real-world problems. In order to complete these innovative teaching practices, students need access to a class set of Chromebooks. Students will use the nine Chromebooks to collaborate, create, and do other work to prepare themselves for being an effective citizen. I have witnessed student interest in civic learning, engagement, and events happening around the world, increase as a result of these innovative and engaging teaching practices.
