Writing is a powerful tool even in the most normal of school years, but in the midst of virtual learning for some and struggling attendance for others, sharing student writing can help build a sense of community that bonds students who may not physically be together. I believe a literary magazine will help build our campus community and shine a light on the talent hiding within our walls. Publishing a student's work makes him or her an author. A published author.
This kind of recognition could provide the inspiration many of our students need in order to persevere through an especially challenging year. Many of our students have slipped through the cracks in larger institutions, have made bad choices, or have simply been dealt a hand that doesn't lend itself to a focus on education. But none of that changes the fact that they walk our halls everyday as talented writers and artists.
Please help us give our students a book that unites them with classmates regardless of where they are. A book they can show friends and family that celebrates the power of their words.
Please help us fund a literary magazine to showcase Brazos Success Academy and its amazing students and staff.
