Since my students are coming from an area in our district that has a high amount of families living in poverty, they often cannot come to school with essentials, such as backpacks. I strive to provide my students with backpacks so that they may have a place to carry their notebooks, pencils, erasers, scissors, and glue.
During a pandemic, and coming back into the classroom, I want my students to know they will have a clean space to learn in. The hand sanitizer will benefit them in knowing that if they cannot immediately get to the sink, they can have clean hands at their disposal.
I want my students to be able to work collaboratively and not waste paper. Therefore the dry erase boards and dry erase pockets will allow my students to work together and complete assignments, all while saving the environment one small paper at a time.
Knowing my students have just come from being at home learning for a whole school year and then some, I know sitting at a traditional desk will be difficult. That is why I want to offer flexible seating with different types of chairs to give my students the ability to make themselves comfortable while they are learning in my class.
Students in my district will be assigned Chromebooks for the near future in the next school year. This means in order to work and not disturb others, they will need their own headphones. This will allow them to watch videos or have books read to them and they will not disturb their classmates.
