If this project is fully funded, it will give my 4th grade students a chance to make music while becoming fluent in music literacy. I'm requesting thirty-five Consort recorders. With these recorders, my students will learn about the process of making music, the science behind using air to make sounds, and the importance of making music as a group instead of thirty-five single instrumentalists.
These students will also learn life-skills, such as determination, endurance, learning the value of hard work and practice, and also pride in accomplishing something that seemed so impossible to achieve.
At the end of the unit, the students will give a concert for their parents during their music class time and also at a PTA meeting in the Spring. These recorders will be kept in storage at the school after the students have used them so that the next group of children can experience this as well.
I had an amazing donor last year who gave to my students by purchasing recorders, with the stipulation that the students take them home and continue to make music even when they are not in my classroom. Please help me give this group that same opportunity.
