Flexible seating is a great tool for student autonomy. By giving students the opportunity to choose the seat or spot that works best for them they have more control over their learning. Currently, my students sit in hard traditional desks that take up a lot of space and are uncomfortable. This project will give them the option of bean bag chairs, floor pillows, or stability balls.
Allowing students to choose their spot has really increased their engagement with their individual work and increased productivity within their cooperative task groups. Introducing flexible seating in my classroom with also free up more class space for movement!
