Thank you so much for considering helping out a class full of city kids. I teach in a Boston high school. More than 60% of my students are under the poverty line (a family of 4 makes under $23,840 annually) My school is over 60% Latino, with second language learner percentage growing every year. We are about 20% Black (not necessarily African American) and 15% White, 5% Asian or other identified categories. I am a National Board Certified teacher in English. I have a Masters degree in ESL. It is my mission to professionally, with the best researched practices, meet every student regardless of their level, exactly where they are, and to move them forward. My students are ambitious, street smart, funny, out of the box thinkers that can lead passionate analytical debate and write moving, crushing memoirs. They have what it takes. What we need are resources.
