I currently teach in an inner city district in New York that educates many socioeconomically challenged children. My school houses over 1,300 kindergarten-5th grade students. The district also has 3 other elementary schools, but mine is the largest, and unfortunately not enough materials to give them the support they need in the music classroom. Many of the instruments are over 40 years old with missing parts and broken. Being in a new building, the materials I have are for K-1 students, when now the school is housing older students as well. The instruments that are usable are just too small.
