My students are a diverse group of advanced 8th grade learners living in a rural, Title I school district that in the past few months has survived an earthquake, tornadoes, and floods! The earthquake seriously damaged our high school, which now must use our building on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays while we get to have classes on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and alternating Saturdays. All of our students are particularly challenged academically this year because of all these natural disasters. They must have as streamlined and comfortable learning environment as possible.
