Comfortable seating is an important element for students with ADHD and Autism. Some of the items I chose allows students to channel their energy through sitting. Other items I chose include items that enhance a private spot away from it all when feeling overwhelmed. I also chose to include items that would give my students encouragement to continue to persevere with challenging tasks. These students face the most challenges when it comes to learning. Some of my students will be visiting my room for 5+ years and I wanted to include some items in my class to calm, soothe, and give them an escape from traditional classroom settings. Some items would support my students individual learning needs, such as manipulatives and visuals. It is my hope that students look forward to coming to my room and learning, while feeling like they are valued and respected.
