My school is one of the lowest performing title 1 schools in our district. Majority of the students that attend the school are on free/or reduced lunch. My class is a kindergarten classroom filled with 20 energetic 5 year olds. The start of the year is a special time for them. For many of them, school is a new experience and they are excited about coming to school. We hit the ground running in teaching them basic social and literacy skills. Their day is filled with exposure to literacy in numerous ways. My students come to school ready to learn, everyday is filled with positive engaging activities.
