Welcome to my teacher page! I am an ESL teacher in Emhurst, Queens, one of the most diverse neighborhoods in the U.S. In my classroom alone, more than 15 languages can be spoken and heard by my students. All of them immigrated to the U.S. with big dreams and hopes for a better future. In order to get to the next step of their journey, they must graduate high school by passing the NY high stakes Regents examinations. However, most ESL students have a hard time passing, and many of them fall behind or drop out after feeling discouraged from failing the exams. Last year, only 30% of our ESL students passed the English Regents. With your support, I hope to build resources for my classroom, making instruction more interactive and engaging. My hope is to get them excited about learning and staying in school.
