I teach 5th grade in a low-income school system. Students are able to learn best when they are interested, challenged, and have hands on experiences.
Students don't always see a connection between school and their life, but I challenge myself to bring new experiences to students that challenge them yet directly correlate to the curriculum. Students strive to do better in order to learn and explore with STEM concepts. Students minds are changing and opening to new ideas and STEM concepts. They see a reason for learning and find enjoyment in it at the same time.
Students want to learn new things in hands on ways. Students are wanting to grow and apply new skills.
I have some background with teaching STEM which I bring to my classroom.
