To prepare the future generation for the world, and to encourage social justice education it is essential that students discuss challenging concepts such as power, privilege, and oppression. Additionally, they must examine how often-valued institutions in society, like the criminal justice system, contribute to maintaining the unjust experiences of many of our citizens.
In order to do so, Just Mercy will help them to answer questions such as, 鈥淲hat does it mean to be merciful?鈥 鈥淲ho is in need of mercy?鈥 and 鈥淗ow can we apply mercy to systems and institutions in our society in order to make them more just?鈥
