My students are 10th graders in a rural Michigan school, many of whom have read the Percy Jackson series, the Harry Potter series, the Lord of the Rings series and eagerly wait to study all things mythology! This perennially popular unit is a highlight of sophomore English.
Our northern location makes for a wonderful transition from Greek to Norse mythology and being in the middle of "The Hobbit" movie trilogy it makes that connection fun and exciting. However, we have no budget for new books, and even though our state has elected to participate in the Common Core curriculum, funding is a current issue.
