Outside of the classroom my students don't have very many opportunities. Some of my students have good examples at home, but most of them come to school everyday on their own. They do not have someone to get them out of bed. They wake themselves up and get on the bus. Some of them even have to take care of little brothers or sisters or even have older brothers and sisters taking care of them. Our schools parent involvement is pretty much nonexistent. We have a handful of parents who are involved in their education, and those parents are a great example and gift to our school. I love seeing parents involved, but unfortunately we live in an area where parents either are not involved due to working to support their family or in most cases they have better things to do.
