I teach at an elementary school in which around one-fourth of the population has some form of special needs. Some of these students (pre-kindergarten through fifth grade) are in need of sensory breaks in order to function and stay engaged throughout the school day. Our school's sensory room needs to be updated as most of our tools are broken and outdated.
My students need a room where they can get focused and motivated through sensory integration to learn and make progress in their classroom socially, academically, and emotionally. We want all students to feel safe and welcome in our school, and our sensory room would do just that!
