We are asking for flexible seating options for our students. Many teachers are moving toward “Starbucks-ing” their classrooms. This would include a variety of seats for students to choose that would help them be most successful in the classroom. Instead of spending their energy in adjusting to their assigned seat, they are able to use that energy to focus on the task at hand. Examples of these would be: scoop chairs, bouncy chairs, bands for chairs, stools, and so on.
These items are already being used in our building for students needing accommodations and have been very successful. However, we know that flexible seating could benefit all students.
Students would have the opportunity to use these every day and would be offered to everyone in the classroom. So, all students in the grade level would have access to these learning tools and would continue throughout the years. We are anticipating the purchase of items that could last over several years.
