My students attend a quickly growing neighborhood school in a suburb of New Orleans. We have many English as a second language learners, as well as a large special needs population. However, this does not keep my students from giving it their all and wanting to succeed. In fact, despite the disadvantages facing my students, our school has consistently raised standardized testing scores over the last few years.
