I have taught students who are troubled and troubling for the past 11 years. This year I am starting on a new journey, middle school students with emotional impairment and other behavior disorders.
This project will help me give my students relevant social skills and mindfulness lessons that are tailored especially for 6-8th grade! The books, curriculum, and other mindfulness resources I have added to this project will help them learn vital skills that are necessary for a successful education. The Cricut will be used in conjunction with the mindfulness focus of the class. We will be able to make mindfulness posters. I teach all of my students about calming strategies and we create a list of things that calm them down. The Cricut will enable me to make the lists on vinyl and then adhere them to each students desk.
I have also added a beanbags as flexible seating. The raffle tickets are used to encourage positive behaviors and can be cashed in daily and weekly for classroom incentives.
