My students are bright, enthusiastic and inquisitive second graders, who have a passion for learning. They have an appreciation for extending concepts and making connections. They enjoy hands-on science investigations, and often have inquiries that go beyond our lessons and experiments. They enjoy researching newly learned concepts on the internet. We need portable technology that can be shared in small groups.
My students attend a Title I school, in which 100% of the population qualifies for the free lunch program. Although many have a stable and supportive home, a large majority live in government housing programs. Many come from families in which English is a second language. About 75% of my students do not have access to a computer or the Internet at home.
