Every classroom has a variety of learners ranging from auditory or visual, to even hands on and kinesthetic! With that said, studies have proven that flexible seating enhances a child’s learning environment, especially those learners who are very kinesthetic! A traditional chair and desk setup isn’t ideal for them. Some children are able to concentrate and increase their attentiveness through the use of flexible seating, such as the “wobble stools” and “stability ball chairs with feet” that are being requested for in this project. Studies show that kids with ADHD focus and concentrated better when they are allowed to sit on a wobble stool. These children cannot control their hyperness, but giving them a wobble stool or stability ball gives them an outlet for that energy, which in return will allow their brains to focus better. Of course the right task analysis and direct instruction lessons need to be taught in order for the kiddos and teachers to be successful! Please help fund our “Flexing in the Classroom!" project so that the students who might benefit from a more kinesthetic environment will have a more non-traditional option!
