Our school is centered in preparing students for the workplace, where they will be called to share business proposals, technological solutions, scientific data, etc. In order to build those skills, our students often will create posters and present findings of their lab results. The white boards, markers, and post-it posters will help facilitate that. Engineering Practices We are starting the year with building self propelled cars as part of our kinematics unit, which is a core component of NGSS & physics. Students will choose how to power their car (by balloons, rubber bands, mousetraps) and apply their knowledge of transfer of energies through engineering. With the materials purchased for the mouse trap/ balloon car, students have an opportunity to get a better foundation knowledge for future courses, as all college courses cover kinematics in the freshman series.
