My students are from many different countries, and over 5 languages are spoken in their homes other than english. My school is identical, with over 5 continents represented and more than 10 languages spoken. We learn math, reading (balanced literacy), writing, social studies, and science everyday. They are mathematicians, scientists, geographers, authors, and poets. Our school is title I, and 90% or more receive free lunch. Our students do not let their socio-economic status define them. Our school and our classroom's number one mission is to "Create a passion for high academic achievement, engage students with a comprehensive curriculum, help each other as a community of learners, be empowered through our diverse community, and to foster students who ethically create a humane and sustainable global society."
