My students are 97% minorities. They are all considered at risk due to them being low income. Our school is a Title I school but despite the challenges of having a high population of at risk students our school still has managed to achieve TEA Exemplary status. The middle school that is also on our campus is also a National Blue Ribbon school. The expectations on our campus are high no matter what grade level. In Kindergarten for example we have our students reading by the end of the year. Our goals are to have every student grow at least 1 grade level each year and we have done a pretty good job of doing this for several years. My students in my class are very eager to learn and enjoy hands on activities where they can explore and apply their learning.
