My school and students live in a fairly low income neighborhood. Our school is 100% free/reduced lunch. The students come from a wide variety of ethnic backgrounds. There are close to 12 languages spoken at my school with refugees from many countries. My students are very eager to participate in physical education and to learn more about fitness. They only had physical education classes one day a week last year. To me, that is unacceptable. I have a big majority of students that are overweight and several that are obese. Our school does not have a parent/teacher organization, so we raise all of our own funds. This requires a lot of pinching when it comes to financial matters. The majority of our funds come from the kids collecting box tops. Most of the time, P.E., Art, and Music get left behind. I'm tired of seeing the health of my students decline because of the lack of equipment.
