I have always wanted to have more seating options in the classroom. I remember when I was a student in middle school, I always hated having to sit in a desk to complete work. By the time the end of the day came around, my bottom was numb. Many of my students have difficulty sitting for extended amounts of time.
They become fidgety, loose focus, and often need to be redirected. I have noticed that they are better focused when they are comfortable. One of my students expressed to me "I think better, when I sit in the comfortable chair." In my classroom right now I have a couple flexible seating options, but I want to give my students even more choices. I have several students who like the one exercise ball I have, and have expressed they want more like that. The foot fidget will be used to keep several of my foot tappers feet busy. I will use the seat cushions to give students a more comfortable seating option when they use the hard plastic chairs, as well as cushions, so students can sit on the floor and work. These seating options will be used by students for years to come. Please help me make my flexible seating classroom a reality!
