I have been teaching for 20 years. Unfortunately, many of the supplies and materials I have for the students to read are that old or older. They are in bad shape. Schools just do not have the budget for world languages that they once did. We have a few new textbooks available. Yet textbooks, while certainly educational and effective, are not always the most engaging for students.
Students crave activities that are interesting, varied, and relevant to them. In my project, I requested several books which may be of more interest to young people. The books are short stories that are great for quick lessons which bring in a new, interesting perspective while still covering grammar and introducing new vocabulary.
I also requested some new decor for the classroom. Students feel more valued and engaged when working in a bright, educational environment.
