Hi! I'm Mrs. Garcia and I teach bilingual first grade at Summitt Elementary School in Austin, Texas. Summitt Elementary is a large school that has a very diverse student population. We have a Vietnamese dual language program and we serve bilingual Spanish speakers as well. Our students are also exposed to a different language each year. Summitt is not a Title I school, so we receive very little funding. Approximately 35% of our students receive free or reduced lunch. We still have needs in the classroom, and much of that extra cost falls to the teachers and the PTA to fund. Please consider helping me offset the cost of quality books, art supplies and technology.
