Our amazing kiddos are all English Language Learners who come from various locations around the world and are in a lower income bracket than many students in my district. We are a very diverse bunch but are predominately Hispanic. Their lives are inspirational and their stories are tales of brave young people confronted by huge challenges. They have highly difficult odds to overcome but I know that education is the great equalizer, and I know they can do it, even when they resist or question their own abilities. We are so privileged to be their champions. I facilitate their learning of a new language and assist them step-by-step as they catch up to their peers. It takes a village y'all, and with the right tools, funding, and information, our kiddos will go farther than they could ever imagine and be ready to face the challenges of the future with confidence by looking back at the strides they have already taken.
