My students learn in a variety of ways and in a variety of environments. In addition to preparing exciting and engaging lessons and activities, I realize that my students need flexible seating options in my classroom. The standard rows and columns of desks are not beneficial to a collaborative, immersive environment.
When they are allowed to choose their seats, my students are more engaged in their own learning.
Some of my students prefer to stand up and take notes from the back of my classroom. A taller table will keep those students involved in my class, while lap desks can be used by my students who choose to sit on the floor. Once my students can make their own decisions about their learning environment, they will be able to better focus on their studies.
