Currently, my students have major gaps in their math content. As a result, I have students in my 6th grade class that are at 2nd grade level math all the way up to 6th grade level math. Their abilities greatly vary.
In my classroom, we use blended learning to help close the achievement gap. I have seen that the use of technology helps move students up at least two grade levels in one school year! Our biggest barrier has been hearing the content being reexplained to them online. Our students really want to hear what they are saying but with up to 37 students listing to their instruction at different levels; it is nearly impossible to hear what is being said.
We need headphones in our classroom so that our students can more closer to proficiency. They are just beginning to fall in love with math again, and they need these headphones so that they can make the gains in math that they have been working so hard to do.
